Saturday, February 13, 2010 - At 03:19 the Columbia No. 1 Fire Department was alerted to assist the Hellam Friendship Fire Company (21) with a reported structure fire. Fire reported 721 DuckTown Road in Hellam Township, a structure fire with reported entrapment. 8-1 Tower Ladder enroute OFC with Deputy Chief Hershey in the seat, followed by the 8-1 Engine with Assistant Chief Dejesus in the seat.. Chief 21 (DUBE) on the scene confirming working fire in a single family dwelling setting up the Hellam Township Command. Due to access issues, Attacks 21 (Hellam) & 42 (East Prospect) were the only units able to make the residence. Hellam Township crews started fire suppression holding the fire to the room of origin with minimal extension. Occupants were safely removed under there own effort.
