Thursday, March 11, 2010 00:03 - Boat 8-1-1 was dispatched with other area units as part of the first alarm assignment on the West Hempfield Fire & Rescue (7-6) box for the reported water rescue on the Susquehanna River. Deputy 7-6 (NEY) met with the Police Department and advised there was possibly a female in the water and numerous boats were launched to begin the almost 3 hour extensive search of the Susquehanna River in the area of the Route 30 Bridge. Later in the incident a helicopter was utilized to assist. Squad 8-1-1 eventually relocated to the York County shore and worked with Station 41, Wrightsville to perform a shore based ground search. All efforts turned up negative and units cleared shortly after 3 a.m. Units operating on the 7-6 in addition to Squad 7-6-1, were boats from 8-1, 8-4, 7-8, 7-1 and 6-2 along with York Station 41 and SVEMS.
Later in the morning Truck 8-1 was due to the local nursing / apartment complex for a reported automatic fire alarm. Truck 8-1 enroute with Captain Anderson in the seat. Units on scene confirming the situation to be under control and Truck 8-1 was placed available.
